Role summary
This role is for a caring and motivated Nursing Support Worker to join a Community Mental Health Team. You will support individuals with mental health needs to achieve recovery and maintain independence. The role involves assisting with planned interventions, accessing community resources, monitoring health, and reporting changes to the clinical team. You will build therapeutic relationships and contribute to a supportive team environment.
Key responsibilities
- Works as part of the multidisciplinary team delivering care to patients/service users experiencing mental health needs in the community/home setting or inpatient services, with support and supervision provided by a registered healthcare professional.
- Undertakes or supports personal care activities, daily living skills/tasks and clinical care duties with minimal support and supervision as delegated by a registered healthcare professional.
- Supports the enhanced observation of patients who present as a high risk to themselves or others due to a mental health, cognitive or clinical condition.
- Ensures the registered healthcare professional is regularly updated on the patients/client's condition and progress.
- Ensures the working environment is safe and hygienic following infection prevention and control policies and processes.
- Contributes to the teaching and supervision of students and junior staff.
Essential criteria
- Good knowledge of working in a mental health setting
- Level 3 qualification in a health care related subject Or Equivalent experience
- Ability to be able to complete certified /accredited physical intervention training, for example Prevention and Management of Violence and Aggression (PMVA) during induction
- Good communication skills both written and verbal
- Experience of working in a Mental Health setting
- Flexible, confident and positive in approach
- Good teamworking skills
Desirable criteria
- Welsh Speaking & Listening skills at Level 3 (equivalent to CEFR B2) or above
- Venepunture training
- IT skills
