Role summary
This is an exciting fixed-term opportunity for a Highly Specialist Clinical Psychologist to join the Neurorehabilitation Psychology Service, covering maternity leave from November 2026 to August 2027. The role involves providing specialist psychological and neuropsychological assessment and intervention for adults with a wide range of neurological conditions across inpatient and outpatient settings. You will contribute to rehabilitation planning, goal setting, and community reintegration, working within multidisciplinary teams to support psychologically informed care. Newly qualified Clinical Psychologists may also be considered for a Band 7 appointment.
Essential criteria
- Doctoral level qualification in Clinical Psychology or equivalent
- HCPC Registration as Practitioner Psychologist
- To be able to demonstrate good knowledge of clinical psychological assessment techniques and clinical interventions
Desirable criteria
- General knowledge of approaches to neuropsychological assessment and behavioural and cognitive interventions.
- Post-qualification training relevant to Neurorehabilitation
- Further training in Neuropsychology or significant supervised experience in neuropsychological practice
- Knowledge And Experience
- To be able to demonstrate specialist knowledge of neuropsychological assessment
- To be able to demonstrate the ability to formulate complex neurological presentations
- To be able to demonstrate an understanding of rehabilitation principles
- To be able to demonstrate the ability to work autonomously
- Experience supervising assistants and/or trainees
- Experience of consultation to multidisciplinary teams
- Skills And Ability
- To be able to demonstrate excellent organisational skills
- To be able to demonstrate the ability to manage competing demands
- To be able to demonstrate a flexible approach to team working
- Experience of delivering psychological therapies for complex presentations

Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Highly Specialist Clinical Psychologist to join our Neurorehabilitation Psychology Service on a fixed-term basis to provide maternity leave cover from November 2026 to August 2027. Applications from newly qualified (or soon-to-qualify) Clinical Psychologists for appointment at Band 7 will also be considered.
This rewarding role offers the opportunity to work across inpatient and outpatient neurorehabilitation services supporting adults with a wide range of neurological conditions, including stroke, traumatic and acquired brain injury, Parkinson's disease, Multiple Sclerosis, brain tumours, Functional Neurological Disorders and other complex neurological conditions.
Working across several multidisciplinary teams, you will provide specialist psychological and neuropsychological assessment and intervention for people experiencing cognitive, emotional, behavioural and adjustment difficulties associated with neurological illness or injury. You will contribute to rehabilitation planning, goal setting and community reintegration while supporting psychologically informed care through stepped and matched care pathways.
