Role summary

This role is for an experienced Neonatal Nurse to join the Neonatal Unit and Transitional Care at Warwick Hospital. You will be responsible for leading and coordinating the team to deliver high-standard, family-integrated care to babies and their families. The unit is a level 1 unit with 11 cots, and the Transitional Care Unit has 4 cots. You will work across both areas, ensuring quality services and operational systems are maintained.

Key responsibilities

  • Lead and co-ordinate the team to maintain and deliver a high standard of family integrated care to all babies and their families.
  • Be responsible for both SCBU and TC, ensuring maintenance of quality services and operational systems.
  • Provide clinical leadership for ward teams to facilitate high standard, evidence-based individualised nursing care.
  • Contribute to the planning, monitoring and control of Ward resources, assisting the Ward Manager to keep expenditure within budgets.
  • Ensure National and Safeguarding Children guidelines are adhered to at all times.
  • Attend annual IPR and complete a personal development plan, taking responsibility for own professional development.

Essential criteria

  • First level RN/RM/RSCN
  • Diploma / Degree in Professional Nursing studies NMC registered
  • Neonatal intensive care course
  • Evidence of continuous professional development, NLS 4 yearly
  • IT Skills/ Knowledge of Lorenzo
  • 2 years recent experience in Neonatal care
  • Recent ICU experience including qualification
  • Demonstrates knowledge of evidence based practices
  • Demonstrates ability to perform wide range of clinical skills
  • Demonstrates understanding of clinical audit and clinical effectiveness
  • Demonstrates understanding of resource management
  • Demonstrates a good understanding of Risk Management processes
  • Demonstrates knowledge of current issues within NHS
  • Able to effectively plan and delegate duties
  • Able to manage personal time effectively
  • Demonstrates belief in practising family integrated care
  • Ability to recognise potential clinical problems and instigate a satisfactory solution
  • Able to work as a decisive, supportive, innovative & proactive team member
