Role summary
This role is for a Clinical/Counselling Psychologist to join the CAMHS multi-disciplinary teams in Tamworth and Lichfield. You will provide therapeutic psychological and mental health services to children and young people, conducting complex assessments and delivering effective interventions. The role involves contributing to initial assessments, managing risk, and acting as a case manager. Travel across South Staffordshire is required for clinic, home, residential, and school visits.
Essential criteria
- Doctoral level qualification in Clinical or Counselling Psychology as recognized by the Health Professions Council (HCPC) or due to complete in 2026
- Registered with the HCPC under a relevant practitioner psychologist title

- Eligible for Chartership status with the British Psychological Society
- Further training in a specific psychological model / interventions specific to the role remit/area of work
- Experience of providing specialist psychological assessment and intervention across a full range of settings.
- Experience of working with children and young people.
- Experience of working in community settings.
- Experience of work in multidisciplinary teams and with multi agency networks.
- Experience of conducting research and/or audit in clinical settings.

We would like to welcome additional Practitioner Psychologists to be part of our CAMHS multi-disciplinary teams, working within established services.
We have 2 fixed-term 12-month vacancies for Clinical/Counselling Psychologists based in our Tamworth and Lichfield CAMHS teams, working alongside the multi-disciplinary teams and supported by a Principal Clinical Psychologist and Consultant Clinical Psychologist. These are a band 7 posts and we will support newly qualifying Clinical Psychologists, who may be seeking a Band 8a post in the future, via our development programme.
The ideal candidate will be:
- Passionate about working with the children and young people seen in our community CAMH services
- Collaborative in their approach to working with children, young people, their families/carers and networks
- Excited about the opportunity to contribute to service developments
- Keen to maximize what psychologists can deliver whilst also working with, and recognizing the strengths of, the multi-disciplinary team
