Role summary
This is a Band 6 Specialist Renal Dietitian post, with consideration for a Band 5/6 development role for suitable candidates. The role involves providing expert renal dietetic advice and nutritional counselling to patients across various settings, including Derriford Hospital, dialysis units, and community clinics. You will manage a varied caseload covering CKD, dialysis, AKI, and transplantation, working as part of an established renal multidisciplinary team. Substantial car travel is required for offsite locations.
Essential criteria
- BSc or equivalent in Dietetics
- HCPC Registration
- Evidence of recent CPD
Desirable criteria
- Relevant post graduate education eg KDSG Renal Course, PENG course
- Completion of a behaviour change/communication skills course
- Completion of Clinical Supervisory Skills course
- Demonstrable experience of working with renal patients
- Demonstrable evidence of significant relevant post-reg clinical dietetics experience in healthcare settings
- Demonstrable experience of working with patients with long term conditions
- Demonstrable experience of working in a multidisciplinary team
- Demonstratable experience of managing junior staff
- Demonstratable experience of clinical audit and service improvement
- Other

Job summary
We are looking for an enthusiastic dietitian to join our renal dietetic team at University Hospitals Plymouth NHS Trust. This is a Band 6 post ideal for an established renal dietitian, but for the right applicant with extensive clinical experience and a keen interest in renal dietetics, a Band 5/6 development post will be considered, with full training and progression to Band 6 dependent on completion of competences after 6-12 months.
You will have a varied caseload across Derriford Hospital, Plymouth Dialysis Unit and satellite units and community clinics throughout the South Hams, North West Devon and East Cornwall areas, so substantial travel by car will be required.You will be involved in all aspects of renal dietetics, including CKD, dialysis, AKI and transplantation.
You will work as a valued member of an established and supportive renal MDT and our large friendly dietetics department. Plymouth is a vibrant waterfront city, close to Dartmoor National Park and the beautiful coastline of South Devon and East Cornwall.
Interviews will be held in person.
