Role summary

This role is for an experienced Registered Nurse to join a specialist regional Level 2a Neuro Rehabilitation Unit as a Deputy Ward Manager. You will deliver expert, compassionate, and person-centred nursing care, supporting patients recovering from complex neurological conditions. The position involves leading and coordinating the nursing team, ensuring safe and effective care, and acting as a visible leader within the ward. You will also support staff development, manage ward operations, and work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team. The service operates 24/7, requiring a combination of day and night shifts, weekends, and bank holidays.

Key responsibilities

  • Deliver expert, compassionate and person-centred nursing care.
  • Lead and coordinate the nursing team to ensure safe, effective and responsive care.
  • Act as a visible and approachable leader within the ward, supporting staff development through supervision, appraisal and coaching.
  • Manage and maintain the ward eRoster, and lead on incident reporting, learning and risk management.
  • Collaborate closely with the multidisciplinary team to ensure holistic and coordinated care for patients.
  • Carry out on call shifts, including providing support for medical and clinical emergencies and responding to non-clinical matters on site.

Essential criteria

  • Demonstrable knowledge of nursing in rehabilitation
  • Demonstrate an understanding of multidisciplinary team working and individual roles
  • Knowledge and understanding of Clinical Governance
  • Knowledge of national and local frameworks and strategies
  • Ability to translate best practice evidence and national policies in practice

We are looking for an enthusiastic, compassionate and motivated nurse to join our specialist regional Level 2a Neuro Rehabilitation Unit as a Deputy Ward Manager. This is an exciting opportunity to combine expert clinical practice with leadership responsibilities within a highly skilled multidisciplinary team dedicated to helping people achieve their rehabilitation potential.

Our patients are recovering from complex neurological conditions and life-changing injuries. Every day brings the opportunity to support individuals on their journey towards greater independence, confidence and quality of life.

This is a 24-hour service operating 7 days a week. The successful candidate will be expected to work a combination of day and night shifts, weekends and bank holidays as part of the leadership team, ensuring visible clinical leadership and support across the service.

This role may not be eligible for sponsorship under the Skilled Worker route.
