Role summary
This role provides day-to-day operational management support to the Diabetics Team, ensuring the speciality runs effectively and efficiently from a non-clinical perspective. The post holder acts as the primary contact for new and existing diabetic patients, their relatives, and the multi-disciplinary team. Responsibilities include maintaining administrative tasks for patient programmes and serving as a patient advocate and problem solver throughout their journey.
Essential criteria
- Educated to degree level in a relevant discipline (i.e. science, health, health management, social science)
- Knowledge of health information management
- Understanding of NHS IT infrastructure, system requirements and quality standards
- Understanding of NHS business and administrative processes
- 3 years secretarial / administration experience
- Experience of working within a hospital
- Experience in establishing/maintaining robust admin systems
- Ability to work unsupervised
- Able to transcribe data in a timely and consistently accurate manner with excellent attention to detail
- Ability to compile, interrogate and analyse data to produce meaningful and accessible management reports and make appropriate recommendations
- Ability to use Excel / Powerpoint / Access, Mail Merge, Word Processing
- Knowledge of medical terminology
- Knowledge and experience of office management

Main duties of the job
To provide day to day operational management support to the Diabetics Team with the aim of ensuring that from a non-clinical perspective the specialities are running effectively and efficiently.
