Role summary
This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated and customer-focused Pathology IT Practitioner to join the Pathology IT Team at University Hospitals Plymouth NHS Trust. The role involves providing frontline support for pathology software, hardware, and laboratory IT systems, monitoring and resolving IT faults, and assisting with system maintenance and upgrades. You will also deliver training to users and contribute to service improvement initiatives, ensuring the delivery of safe and effective patient care.
Essential criteria
- Educated to degree or equivalent level or equivalent demonstrable experience.
- IT qualifications, e.g.: European Computer Driving Licence (ECDL) or equivalent experience.
Desirable criteria
- Degree in IT related subject.
- Knowledge & experience
- Previous demonstrable experience and a good understanding of computer (PC) systems, the Windows operating system, principles of software analysis and database application.
- Demonstrable experience of writing and developing effective documentation.
- Knowledge of the Data Protection Act
- Practical demonstrable experience of problem solving/repair of IT hardware
- Proven ability in using MS Office packages; Excel, Access and Outlook, with advanced skill base within Word.
- Demonstrable IT experience
- Demonstrable experience in Process Mapping
- Proven ability to source, research and collate information/data.
- An understanding of Prince2 project principles
- A fundamental knowledge of systems used in Pathology
- Aptitudes & Abilities
- Good analytical thinking
- Good telephone, verbal and written communication skills
- Proven ability to work autonomously without supervision, making decisions or requesting management support as appropriate.
- Work well under pressure
- Proven ability to produce business reports and clear, succinct briefings for managers and staff
- Working knowledge of Trust IT systems.
