Role summary

This role is for a Non-Medical Prescriber to join the REACH team in Weymouth, supporting individuals with drug and alcohol misuse to achieve recovery. The successful candidate will work with an allocated cohort of service users, providing specialist prescribing services and contributing to integrated care. Clinical leadership is provided by an AWP Consultant Addictions Psychiatrist. The position requires experience in drug and alcohol treatment settings and a passion for person-centred care.

Essential criteria

  • Registered Nurse (part 1)
  • Post registration qualification in Nurse Independent / Supplementary Prescriber recorded by NMC.
  • Clinical Assessment Skills
  • Approved Medication Management training (this incorporates CBT techniques, motivational interviewing and psycho-education).
  • At least 3 years post qualifying experience in Mental Health, 2 at Band 6 or above
  • At least 6 months experience working as a Supplementary Nurse Prescriber. o Expert clinical assessment skills.
  • Experience of care co-ordination for a group of service users, developing specialised Clinical Management Plans.
  • Knowledge of key Government targets in Mental Health.
  • Experience of using different treatment models in practice.
  • Thorough knowledge of the principals of CPA.
  • Able to demonstrate knowledge of current Mental Health legislation.
  • Can demonstrate knowledge and principal of Risk Assessment and Risk Management.
  • Knowledge of the National Service Framework standards.

  • Empathy for individuals who have experienced mental health problems and ability to cope with behaviour which may be challenging at times.

Job summary

We are looking for a full time or part time Non-Medical Prescriber. An opportunity has arisen to join the REACH team as a Non-Medical Prescriber; supporting people who use drugs and alcohol to stabilise, work towards recovery and build positive and fulfilling futures for themselves.

As a prescriber you will work with an allocated cohort of service users from a specific area of Dorset (various options available) and be part of an integrated team of drug and alcohol professionals. Clinical leadership is provided by an AWP Consultant Addictions Psychiatrist.
