Role summary
Join our award-winning Respiratory Services as a Band 7 Clinical Nurse Specialist, delivering high-quality, evidence-based care. You will lead and develop a multidisciplinary team to provide outstanding care for respiratory patients in various settings, including hospital, clinics, and their homes. Based at Farnham Community Hospital, the role involves working across designated sites within the ICB, with core hours Monday to Friday, 9am-5pm, potentially expanding to a 7-day service. This challenging yet rewarding position offers a comprehensive induction and supports ongoing professional development.
Essential criteria
- Demonstrates understanding of relevant national strategy / policy and how this relates to the service
- Demonstrates up to date knowledge and expertise in general nursing. Knowledge of key professional issues and NMC guidelines and codes, relating to professional practice
- Evidence of ability to work collaboratively
- Advanced clinical assessment skills
- Ability to initiate, sustain and evaluate change
- Demonstrates skilled written and verbal communication skills
Desirable criteria
- ABG interpretation
- Registered Nurse - Part 1,2,12
- Teaching / assessment programme
- Relevant specialist post basic programme in respiratory care and management
- First degree in nursing, or demonstrable experience at this level
- Completed / completing a masters degree
- Non-Medical prescribing
- Significant relevant clinical experience (postgraduate) in the same or related specialty
- Some recent clinical experience in the acute or respiratory setting
- Experience in managing the acutely unwell respiratory patient in the hospital setting.
- Experience in acting as a clinical supervisor and mentor to others
- Experience of applying research evidence to clinical practice
- Previous community nursing experience
- Special Requirements
- Full driving licence and access to a car for use to travel across sites and perform domiciliary visits
- Willing and able to work weekends and unsocial hours

Join our award-winning Respiratory Services and find your passion in delivering high-quality, evidence-based care. We are seeking an enthusiastic, passionate and knowledgeable Band 7 Clinical Nurse Specialist committed to excellence in respiratory care.
As a key member of the senior team, you will lead and develop a multidisciplinary workforce--including nurses, physiotherapists, nursing associates, associate practitioners, physio technicians and administrative staff--to deliver outstanding care for people with respiratory illness in their preferred setting.
Based at Farnham Community Hospital, our team covers NE Hampshire, Farnham and Surrey Heath, caring for patients in hospital, clinics and their own homes. You will play a vital role in improving standards of respiratory care and enjoy a varied role where no two days are the same.
The post requires flexibility to work across designated sites within the ICB, spanning both community and secondary care. Core hours are Monday to Friday, 9am-5pm, this will develop into a 7-day service, which may involve weekend rotations and occasional unsociable hours.
