Role summary
This is an exciting opportunity for a Registered Nurse to join the female PICU ward at West Park Hospital. The role involves delivering high-quality, patient-focused care within a multi-disciplinary team, focusing on patient experience and recovery. You will act as a role model, support student nurses, and contribute to the day-to-day running of the ward. Full training and a Preceptorship programme are provided for newly registered nurses.
Key responsibilities
- Work closely with service users and their relatives/carers as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
- Lead as a role model within the team, demonstrating compassionate leadership through Trust Values and Behaviours.
- Support and develop a collective approach to leadership and ward development in conjunction with the team, patients, and carers.
- Improve the lives of those with mental ill health by minimising the impact of their condition through delivery of excellent services.
- Act as named nurse to patients and facilitate the development of others within the team, including supporting student nurses.
- Be responsible for the day-to-day running of the ward and promote a positive image of mental health services.
Essential criteria
- Current professional registration with Nursing & Midwifery Council RNMH or RNLD
- To be recognised practice assessor / mentor or work towards in an agreed timescale
- Evidence of Continuing Professional Development
- Trained Clinical Supervisor or work towards in an agreed timescale
- Working with people with mental ill health / learning disabilities
- Working in a person centred therapeutic organisation
- Working collaboratively with service users and their families/carers
- Working in a multi-disciplinary team
- Working in partnership with other agencies
- Evidence based knowledge of best practice in caring for patients in the designated field.
- Understanding of relevant legislation (e.g. Mental Health Act, Mental Capacity Act)
- Understanding of Safeguarding and its application in practice
- Clinical Risk Assessment and Management and its application in practice
- Clinical Governance and its application in practice
- Confident working knowledge of clinical medicines management, including administration of injections

Cedar ward offers a fantastic opportunity for the right person to join a team who support female patients within a current 10 bedded ward environment, however there are discussion to reduce the bed occupancy.
Whether you're an experienced Registered Nurse or a Newly Registered Nurse, this is a fantastic opportunity to be part of a service that puts patient care first. You will have the time and support to make a real difference every day.
Student Nurse's that are due to register in the next 3 months are very welcome to apply. Full training and Preceptorship programme will be provided to help you build confidence and develop your career in this specialist area.
