Role summary
This is a Band 5 Staff Nurse position within the inpatient Gynaecology team at Arrowe Park Hospital. The role involves working across an 8-bedded inpatient ward, daycase unit, and an acute Gynaecology Assessment and Early Pregnancy Unit. The successful candidate will provide safe care and treatment for patients, working rotational shifts including long days, weekends, and nights. They will collaborate with a multidisciplinary team and handle sensitive situations related to pregnancy loss and oncology.
Key responsibilities
- Support the nursing and medical team to provide safe care and treatment for patients.
- Work rotational shifts across the inpatient ward, day case unit, and assessment areas.
- Collaborate with members of the multidisciplinary team to ensure a smooth patient journey.
- Deal with potentially difficult and emotive situations relating to pregnancy loss and oncology sensitively.
- Make decisions using own judgement within the remit of the role.
Essential criteria
- 1st Level NMC Registration
- Evidence of Professional Development
- Act as a practice supervisor

- Relevant Degree or willing to register to work towards degree
- Relevant or willingness to undertake relevant module/course
- Suitable for newly qualified or experienced staff nurse
- Experience of maintaining accurate records
- Relevant clinical knowledge and experience
- Awareness of evidence based practice
- Good organisational/time management skills
- Ability to deal with an acute workload
- Good communication skills written and verbal
- Ability to recognise the importance of team work
- Competent in organising/prioritising own workload and that of others

- NHS Experience
- Awareness of Health Policies and the changing NHS environment

Job summary
We are looking to recruit an exceptional and enthusiastic Band 5 Staff Nurse to join our inpatient Gynaecology team at Arrowe Park Hospital.
The Gynaecology Inpatient Unit consists of an 8 bedded inpatient ward, daycase unit, and an acute Gynaecology Assessment and Early Pregnancy Unit. The inpatient ward also supports with surgical outliers.
The successful candidate will support the nursing and medical team to provide safe care and treatment for patients during their admission to the unit. The role is rotational between the inpatient ward, day case unit and assessment areas and includes long days, weekends and night shifts.
Main duties of the job
You will work closely with members of the multidisciplinary team to ensure a smooth, safe and positive journey for all of our patients.
The post holder will have excellent communication skills and have an ability to deal with potentially difficult and emotive situations relating to pregnancy loss and oncology in a sensitive manner and make decisions using their own judgement whilst recognising the remit of their role.
