Role summary

This role involves leading the Memory Service in conjunction with the manager, providing comprehensive support for people with Dementia and their carers in Harrow. The postholder will conduct mental health assessments, act as a vital leadership role model, and manage staff within the team. They will also deputise for the Memory Service Manager as required.

Essential criteria

  • RMN qualification and current registration
  • Diploma / Degree in subject related to Mental Health

Desirable criteria

  • SLICE or equivalent.
  • Educated to degree/masters level.
  • Nurse Prescribing qualification or willingness to undertake this.

  • PREVIOUS EXPERIENCE
  • Experience as a qualified mental health practitioner
  • Experience of working with people with Dementia and an in depth knowledge of Dementia Care
  • Risk assessment/management.
  • Evidence of leadership skills
  • Ability to apply research to practice.
  • Knowledge of counselling skills/cognitive behavioural skills/psychosocial interventions/brief solution focused therapy.
  • A successful track record in making improvements in service delivery or operational effectiveness
  • A successful track record in managing staff effectively, including improving performance
  • Other relevant post registration experience.
  • Audit and Research.
  • Experience managing budgets
  • Exposure to delivering service change
  • KILLS, KNOWLEDGE, ABILITIES
  • An understanding of the Mental Health Act (1983), the Mental Health Code of Practice and the CPA process.
  • Ability to reflect on and evaluate one's own practice, and A/I accept constructive criticism.

Job summary

The Memory Service Deputy Manager will be part of and help lead the Memory Service in conjunction with the Memory Service Manager. They will help provide a comprehensive service for both people with Dementia and their Carers as well as clinicians within the borough of Harrow and provide support / deputise for the Memory Service Manager as required.

Main duties of the job

This Deputy role will involve the full assessment of mental health care needs of people in the community as part of the Memory Service.

This post will have a vital leadership role, acting as a role model for others, in communicating and maintaining good working relationships between the above named institutions. The postholder will take on the full line management responsibilities of a number of staff members within the Memory Service.

The postholder will also be the nominated deputy for the manager of the Harrow Memory Service and will provide managerial support to staff within the team.
