Role summary
This role involves providing an effective and efficient outpatient appointment service, acting as the first point of contact for Specialist Nurses, and administering clinics for the OPD and Minor Injuries Unit. Essential criteria
- Able to demonstrate English and Mathematics to GCSE or equivalent level
- NVQ Level 3 Customer Care or equivalent qualification or experience
- AMSPAR Diploma in Medical Reception Level 3 or equivalent qualification or experience
- Previous clerical/office/reception experience
- Customer Service experience

Job summary
To provide an effective and efficient outpatient appointment service. The post holder acts as the first point of contact for telephone communication for the Specialist Nurses, thereby supporting the delivery of quality care to patients within the BCLUHB. The post holder will administer clinics for the OPD and Minor Injuries Unit and carry out general clerical duties to facilitate the daily operation of the office.
Main duties of the job
The receptionist will work closely with the Specialist Nurses; the post holder is required to work accurately and independently, within guidelines after training in the patient focused booking of appointments. Use their own initiative and judgement, rather than supervised, deciding when necessary to consult their manager.
The ability to speak Welsh is essential for this role
