Role summary
This role is for a Rheumatology Specialist Support Nurse to join a multidisciplinary team, providing high-quality, patient-focused care for individuals with rheumatic conditions. The nurse will offer specialist advice, education, and support to patients, liaising with other healthcare professionals. Key responsibilities include assessing, planning, and implementing individual nursing care, as well as running nurse-led clinics and providing advice line support.
Key responsibilities
- Support the specialist nursing team to provide high quality, patient focused care.
- Provide specialist advice and support to patients, liaising with other staff members and allied healthcare professionals.
- Assess, plan and implement specialist individual nursing care to our patient cohort.
- Run nurse-led clinics across our three sites.
- Offer support via the advice line, with support from the consultants and senior nursing team.
Essential criteria
- Registered nurse
- Relevant experience in speciality
- Evidence of continuous professional development
- Post registration qualification in speciality, or willingness to complete
- Intravenous infusion training
- Cannulation training
- Demonstrable expert nursing skills
- Evidence of mentorship/preceptorship roles
- Able to accept personal accountability for own practice
- Understanding of evidence-based practice
- Good verbal and written communication skills
- Capable of working as an integral member of a small team
- Flexible & adaptable in situations due to both workload and service needs
- Ability to undertake teaching of staff and patients
- Ability to work unsupervised and manage own workload
- Effective time management
- Effective interpersonal skills
- Commitment to multidisciplinary working
- Assertiveness/perceptive
- Understanding of Clinical Governance
- Understanding and knowledge of specialist field

- Chemotherapy / cytotoxic administration training
- Degree
