Role summary

This full-time Band 3 Community Mental Health Support Worker role is based in Barnsley's Older Peoples Community Mental Health Team. You will support individuals with mental health conditions, facilitating care plans developed by qualified practitioners and delivering therapeutic interventions. Key responsibilities

  • Deliver therapeutic interventions, psychological and physical care under supervision of registered health care professionals.
  • Provide high standards of safe and compassionate planned care to maximise recovery and rehabilitation potential.
  • Develop and maintain meaningful therapeutic relationships with service users, adopting a polite, positive, and empathetic approach.
  • Instruct, advise, and guide service users, family, and carers in therapeutic interventions, making appropriate adjustments within competence.
  • Contribute to the care planning process, understanding principles of enabling service users to reach optimum functioning/independence/recovery.
  • Undertake physical aspects of care, including moving and handling, and use equipment like hoists and wheelchairs.

  • Or, Level 2 Apprenticeship/Diploma in health and social care with the ability to demonstrate competencies at level 3 and a willingness to
  • work towards achieving Level 3 qualification.
  • Care Certificate or required to achieve within 12 weeks of commencement (where appropriate to the post).
