Role summary

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Healthcare Support Worker or Assistant Practitioner to join a busy and friendly Endoscopy Team. The role involves supporting the delivery of safe, effective, and high-quality care to patients undergoing endoscopic procedures. You will work alongside registered nurses, doctors, and other multidisciplinary team members throughout the patient's endoscopy journey, from admission to recovery. The ideal candidate will be enthusiastic, motivated, and compassionate, with a passion for delivering excellent patient care within a busy team.

Key responsibilities

  • Provide high-quality, compassionate patient care within the Endoscopy Unit.
  • Assist with the preparation of patients for endoscopic procedures.
  • Support patients during procedures and provide reassurance and dignity at all times.
  • Assist with patient recovery following sedation and procedures.
  • Monitor and report changes in the patient's condition appropriately.
  • Prepare clinical areas and equipment for procedures.

Essential criteria

  • Foundation degree in Health Care Science or equivalent
  • GCSE in Maths, English and Science Grade C or above or equivalent
  • Previous experience as an Assistant Technical Officer in Cardiology
  • Competent in Electrocardiography procedures
  • IT skills
  • Good communication skills
  • The ability to work as part of a team
  • Commitment to completion of work tasks at high standard
  • Organisational skills
  • Ability to work to deadlines

Desirable criteria

  • Certificate of Electrocardiography of SCST
  • Enrolled Member of SCST
  • Previous experience supervising staff and training
