Role summary
This is a part-time permanent Band 6 Colorectal Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) position at Queen Elizabeth Hospital. The role involves providing clinical services to patients with colorectal conditions, supporting consultant and nurse-led clinics, and offering in-patient stoma and fistula care. The post holder will work within an established CNS team and a multidisciplinary team, requiring autonomous work in nurse-led clinics. Excellent communication skills are essential for patient and family support, and teaching colleagues and patients is a core responsibility.
Key responsibilities
- Provide clinical services to patients with colorectal conditions.
- Support consultant and nurse led clinics.
- Provide in-patient stoma and fistula care.
- Work closely with an established multidisciplinary team, ward and community staff.
- Provide assessment and treatment independently in nurse led clinics.
- Provide education for colleagues and patients.
Essential criteria
- Registered Nurse with valid NMC registration and educated to degree level.
- Evidence of post registration CPD / post registration qualification in appropriate area of speciality or professional knowledge supplemented by specialist experience and short courses to FHEQ Level 6

- Teaching qualification
- Advanced communications course
- Evidence and ability to revalidate as required by the NMC.
- Significant post registration experience, with evidence of passion/ enthusiasm and knowledge for the associated area of specialist practice
- Evidence of achievements and career development in current post and of on-going professional development/ competence
- Demonstrate specialist knowledge underpinned by theory and CPD relevant to speciality.
- Experience and enthusiasm for teaching/assessing and supervising others in a clinical setting.
- Experience of working in a multi-disciplinary and cross agency work environment.
- Demonstrate understanding / experience / willingness to be a practice-based supervisor / assessor as detailed in the NMC.
- Experience in stoma/fistula care

Job summary
Are you a nurse with an interest in colorectal surgical nursing and looking for a new challenge? If you are, an exciting opportunity has become available within the Colorectal CNS team based at the Queen Elizabeth Hopsital for a Band 6 Colorectal CNS. This is a part time permanent position (30 hours). The post holder will work within an established CNS team to provide clinical services to patients with colorectal conditions supporting consultant and nurse led clinics, as well as providing in patient stoma and fistula care. Experience in colorectal and/or gastroenterology nursing would be beneficial, as would experience in multidisciplinary and cross agency working.
