Role summary
Join the Children's Community Nursing Team as a Paediatric Health Care Support Worker, providing high-quality patient care to children and young people aged 0-19. This role involves working in various community settings, including patient homes, special schools, and clinics. You will participate in delivering family-centered care, performing tasks like blood sampling and maintaining patient records. The trust offers ongoing educational development and bespoke competency-based training.
Essential criteria
- Good standard of general education including English and Maths to GCSE grade C or equivalent.
- Evidence of willingness to undertake relevant study
- NVQ 2 or 3 in Health and Social Care or equivalent
Desirable criteria
- First Aid, Health Care related courses
- Previous Community Phlebotomy Experience
- Experience in Health, Social, Education or Voluntary setting
- Previous experience with children & young people in the community.
- Awareness of the need for confidentiality
- Experience of caring for the child/young person with special needs
- Ability to contribute to the development of new clinics/services.

- Ability to establish and maintain verbal communication.
- Ability to maintain accurate, timely and contemporaneous records.
- Accept delegation and work without direct supervision
- Good time management skills
- Basic computer skills in order to write up daily clinical notes, check email, do online training
- Experience of running community clinics
- Clinical skills in Blood pressure monitoring and urinalysis.
- Be prepared to work to guidelines and procedures
- Ability to travel to child or young person's home within West Hertfordshire
- Ability to remain calm and composed in a challenging situation

- Hold a full, valid, UK driving licence and have access to a car to use for business purposes (unless you have a disability as defined by the Equality Act 2010)

We are looking to recruit 2 Paediatric Health care Support workers to join our team. For this role it is necessary that you are a caring and courteous individual that can work under pressure in a challenging environment. The post holders are required to work as part of the Children's Community Nurses Team in all community settings, including patient homes, special schools and clinics.
There is commitment to ongoing educational development of staff to meet the changing needs of Children's Nursing. The successful candidates will be offered bespoke competency based training, Phlebotomy skills as well as NHS mandatory training relevant to your role. Support will be provided by registered nurses and experienced Home Care Support Workers so that you gain the knowledge and skills required to care
