Role summary

This role is for a Senior Radiopharmacy Production Training Officer within the Radiopharmacy Production Team. The officer will coordinate and oversee training and competency development for staff involved in manufacturing radiopharmaceutical products. They will also undertake routine production activities and support operational and quality management tasks. The position plays a key role in shaping the department's training programme and ensuring safe, effective, and compliant service delivery.

Key responsibilities

  • Coordinate, oversee and progress production training and competency development for Radiopharmacy Production staff.
  • Plan and monitor training programmes, maintaining training documentation and competency records.
  • Ensure trainees are allocated appropriate training time and support training improvements.
  • Undertake routine radiopharmaceutical production activities.
  • Support the Deputy Radiopharmacy Production Lead with operational and quality management activities, including audits, observed assessments and invoicing processes.
  • Provide operational support to the Production Lead and Deputy Production Lead, including urgent operational duties like workload coordination and rota planning in their absence.

Essential criteria

  • Science degree or relevant experience
  • Good practical skills with ability to work accurately and neatly
  • Exceptional communication, organisational, time management and prioritisation skills
  • Highly computer literate (IT experience with spreadsheets and databases)
  • Good attention to detail
  • Physically able to participate in the preparation of radiopharmaceuticals with moderate lifting and standing/sitting for long period dispensing
  • Ability to plan and coordinate training activities alongside operational service requirements
  • Substantial experience of pharmaceutical manufacturing (licensed) in hospital setting including radiopharmaceutical and/or aseptic dispensing
  • Experience of working in a team and independently
  • Experience of training, mentoring or supporting the competency development of staff
  • Able to make decisions, work independently, self-motivate and use initiative
  • Able to be helpful, work collaboratively and be supportive within a team
  • Respectful to others, treat everyone as an individual
  • Attention to detail
  • Willing to learn, open to change

Desirable criteria

  • Pharmacy Technician, registered with the General Pharmaceutical Council
  • Evidence of further training & development in aseptic services or willingness to undertake further training e.g. PTQA or STP qualifications
  • Good understanding of guidance (national and international) standards relating to Good Manufacturing and Laboratory Practice
