Role summary
This role is for an enthusiastic and motivated Therapy Assistant to support Occupational Therapists and Physiotherapists within the medical area. You will assist patients with exercises, mobility, and daily activities, prepare equipment, and help ensure smooth and safe discharges. The position involves documenting care and communicating with the therapy team, patients, and their families/carers, contributing to seven-day services.
Key responsibilities

- Documenting care and communicating with the Therapy team, patients and their families/carers
- Provide support and assistance to Occupational Therapists and Physiotherapists during multi-disciplinary assessment and treatment of patients
- Liaise with patient, families and their carer, as well as the immediate clinical and the wider multidisciplinary team
Essential criteria
- Basic IT skills
- Sound educational background to GCSE level or equivalent (Grade C or above in 3 subjects)
- NVQ Level 3 in health based study
- Knowledge of role of Occupational Therapy and physiotherapy
- Awareness of the value of team working
- Evidence of previous team work
- Previous Assistant/HCA in any care setting
- Understanding and interest in providing rehabilitation to patients
- Empathy, patience and persuasive skills
- Desire to work with people
- Good written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to communicate effectively with all members of MDT at all levels and build effective relationships
- Versatility/adaptable to meet needs of service
Desirable criteria
- Previous experience in NHS with patients
- Able to use own initiative appropriately
