Role summary

This role involves working as a Bank Dietetic Assistant Practitioner within the public health dietetic team. The post holder will deliver community-based initiatives, supporting positive changes in food, nutrition, and physical activity behaviors. They will develop, coordinate, deliver, and evaluate nutrition education and food initiatives, working independently with community groups and organizations. The role also supports the assessment of needs, monitoring, quality assurance, and evaluation of services, aiming to improve public health nutrition.

Essential criteria

  • NVQ Level 3 or equivalent level of knowledge acquired through a combination of credited training, short courses and experience.
  • Knowledge of public health nutritional messages and current services

  • Teaching or training qualification
  • Agored Cymru Level 2 Community Food and Nutrition Skills
  • Food Hygiene Certificate
  • Working towards obtaining level 4 credits in line with the Health Care Support Worker Framework
  • Previous experience of working in NHS, social care or community setting
  • Experience of team working Experience dealing with telephone enquires Experience of using Windows, Microsoft Office , Outlook packages and experience of data inputting
  • Attendance at relevant courses/conferences

The opportunity has arisen to engage a Bank Dietetic Assistant Practitioner to work with adults, children and families to deliver a range of community based initiatives; utilising a range of agreed approaches to support positive changes to food, nutrition, and physical activity behaviours. They will support the local delivery and evaluation of Nutrition Skills for Life TM services.

Main duties of the job

The bank worker will develop, coordinate, deliver and evaluate nutrition and dietetic education training packages and food initiatives for a range of community-based partners, under the guidance of Specialist Public Health Dietitians.

The bank worker will work relatively independently, working to an agreed framework with a degree of autonomy and will be responsible and accountable for these tasks. This will involve having their own caseload of clients and working with a range of organisations in a complex community environment.
