Role summary
This is a full-time permanent role for an enthusiastic Ophthalmic Science Practitioner to join the expanding Ophthalmic Imaging team at Queen's Medical Centre. The successful candidate will perform ophthalmic imaging using various techniques for patients of all ages and participate in the virtual clinic service. The role requires working various shifts, including evenings and weekends, and contributing to teaching, audit, and research.
Essential criteria
- Degree in photgraphy or equiavalent clinical experience within ophthalmic imaging
Desirable criteria
- Degree in ophthalmic imaging or related ophthalmic profession
- Recent ophthalmic imaging clinical experience
- Experience within an ophthalmology virtual clinic service
- Communication and relationship skills
- Communicates effectively using a variety of methods
- Adapts communication when barriers to understanding
- Knowledge of ocular anatomy, physiololgy and pathology
- Effective time management skills
- Ability to analyse quality of clinical images
- Ability to prioritise own workload and work as a team

Job summary
We have a full-time (37.5 hours/week) role available for enthusiastic Ophthalmic Science Practitioners to join our expanding Ophthalmic Imaging team within the Department of Ophthalmology at Queen's Medical Centre campus.
If you are an enthusiastic, highly motivated clinician, with good communication skills and the ability to be adaptable to the changing needs of the department, this role is an opportunity to work in a large teaching hospital with a varied caseload which will include participation in a range of service provision.
The successful candidate will need to hold a BSc in Photography; BSc Ophthalmic Imaging or have equivalent clinical experience to enable delivery of the requirements of the role.
The post holder will be required to work various shifts to support the needs of the service. This includes working weekdays, weekends, bank holiday days and varying hours with the earliest start time at 7.00am and the latest finish at 8.00pm. The initial working pattern is anticipated at one evening clinic per week and one Saturday per month.
