Role summary
This role is for a passionate and experienced leader to join the Community Children's Nursing service as a Workforce and Service Development Lead. You will provide strategic and operational leadership to strengthen the capability, resilience, and sustainability of the CCN workforce. Key responsibilities include leading workforce development, education, audit, quality improvement, and practice learning. The position involves working with CCN leadership, Learning and Development teams, and external education partners to support staff development, student education, workforce planning, and service improvement. The aim is to ensure services remain safe, evidence-based, and aligned with national guidance and Trust priorities.
Essential criteria
- Registered Children's Nurse (RN Child) with current NMC registration
- Educated to degree level (BSc or equivalent)
- Relevant postgraduate study or clear commitment to Masterslevel development
- Practice Educator / Practice Assessor qualification or equivalent experience with willingness to obtain
Desirable criteria
- Postgraduate qualification in education, leadership, workforce development or related field
- SPQ/SCPHN Qualification
- Experience working in a senior children's nursing role within community or equivalent setting
- Experience of safeguarding children and managing child protection processes
- Experience of supervising staff and supporting appraisal and personal development
- Experience of supporting clinical education of learners within a skill mixed workforce
- Experience of partnership working across health, education, social care and/or voluntary sectors
- Involvement in clinical governance activity, including audit, quality improvement or service evaluation
- Experience contributing to policy, protocol or practice development
- Experience supporting or leading service or workforce change
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to communicate highly complex, sensitive or contentious information
- Ability to lead, motivate and develop others, fostering a positive learning culture
- Ability to assess competence, provide constructive feedback and support professional development
- Strong organisational skills with ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines
- Ability to work autonomously within scope of professional accountability
- Ability to analyse information, identify risk and make sound judgements
