Role summary

This is an exciting opportunity for an Assistant Ward Manager to join Clover Ward, a Psychiatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU), providing specialist inpatient care for people with acute and complex mental health needs. The role involves supporting the Ward Manager in delivering high-quality, recovery-focused care, providing clinical leadership, and supporting staff development. The successful candidate will contribute to clinical decision-making, supervise the multidisciplinary team, and play a key role in service improvement and governance activities. This position requires an experienced Registered Mental Health Nurse with strong leadership, communication, and organisational skills.

Essential criteria

  • RMN
  • Current Registration on part 3 or part 13 of NMC Register

Desirable criteria

  • Teaching (clinical practice) qualification/certificate or equivalent experience
  • Assessment, planning, formulation, and evaluation of patient's psychological difficulties.
  • Experience of working with people with Mental Health Needs.
  • Involvement with innovation in Nursing Practice
  • Experience of doing audits
  • A minimum of 2yrs post qualification working in a mental health inpatient setting.

Job summary

Assistant Ward Manager - [contact details removed] Unit (PICU), Clover Ward (Band 6) An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Assistant Ward Manager to join Clover Ward, our Psychiatric Intensive Care Unit, providing specialist inpatient care for people experiencing acute and complex mental health needs.

We are seeking a motivated and compassionate Registered Mental Health Nurse to support the Ward Manager in delivering high-quality, recovery-focused care. The successful candidate will provide clinical leadership, support staff development and help maintain a safe, therapeutic environment for service users.

You will contribute to clinical decision-making, provide supervision and support to the multidisciplinary team, and play a key role in service improvement, quality assurance and governance activities. Responsibilities include supporting safer staffing, roster management, audits, incident learning and continuous improvement initiatives.
