Role summary
This is a Band 6 Senior Staff Nurse position in a busy Sexual Health and HIV Service in West London. The role involves autonomously managing symptomatic patients and acting as Nurse in Charge, supporting junior staff, and providing excellent patient care. The successful candidate will be a role model for expert clinical care and lead on specific projects as delegated by the Clinic Manager. They will coordinate clinical, managerial, and educational requirements of the area.
Key responsibilities
- Lead on assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating high-quality care for patients.
- Coordinate and manage nurse-led clinics and specialist functions, making clinical decisions where appropriate.
- Manage day-to-day staffing arrangements and rotas to ensure safe levels of practice.
- Participate in the education of all learners, supporting preceptorship and student supervision.
- Maintain professional registration and undertake a professional development plan.
Essential criteria
- Registered Nurse
- Successfully completed or willingness to undertake teaching/assessing course
- Evidence of professional development
- Relevant specialist courses/training
- Relevant post registration sexual health or HIV experience at Band 5 level
- Wide variety of clinical experience
- Proven management experience
- Experience of clinical supervision
- Experience of excellence in leading all /part of a clinical team in practice

- To be competent in the independent STI management of asymptomatic and symptomatic patients or the management of patients living with HIV infection
- Experience of managing/coordinating team work
- Experience in issuing medicine using PGD's
- Proven management experience
- Proven clinical knowledge linked to area of specialty, and excellence in care delivery
- Current experience as either a sexual health (GU/FP)nurse alternatively current experience in a HIV inpatient or outpatient setting
- Venepuncture
- Ability / experience of managing change personally and as a facilitator
