Role summary
This role is for a motivated Occupational Therapist to join the Merton Adult Community Neuro Rehabilitation Team within Central London Community Healthcare. You will deliver specialist, evidence-based rehabilitation for people with stroke and neurological conditions in the community, helping them maximise independence and achieve rehabilitation goals. The position involves working collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team and contributing to service development and continuous improvement. Essential criteria
- Diploma/Degree in Occupational Therapy
- Current AHP with UK HCPC registration
- Post-graduate training in Approaches to Rehabilitation / Cognitive rehabilitation / Neurological rehabilitation or equivalent.
- Attendance at specialist short courses or equivalent CPD activities within the specialist areas of Neurology
Desirable criteria
- Masters level study
- A minimum of 4-5 years post-graduate experience with a minimum of 2 years in older peoples / neurological rehabilitation services
- Experience post registration as a Band 6 occupational therapist in neurology (possibly as part of a rotation)
- Experience in working with people with complex health and social issues.
- Experience in working collaboratively across agencies in planning care for people
- Experience in planning complex discharges, co-ordinating services and resources.
- Experience in working with adults in their own home and working in community services
- Rotational experience at Band 5 or Band 6 level in acute trusts and stroke services.
- Skills and Knowledge
- Knowledge of role(s) of Allied Health Professionals and interdisciplinary team working
- Knowledge and understanding of complex medical conditions including, neurology, multi-pathologies and falls
- Ability to apply core occupational therapy skills across a range of clinical conditions within a client-centred, goal setting
- Knowledge of moving and handling legislation and procedures
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to problem solve in a creative manner and to make clear and realistic decisions with clients and their carers.
- Knowledge and experience in research and audit
