Role summary
This role is for a Band 7 Children's Nurse to become a Blood, Bone Marrow Transplant and Gene Therapy Coordinator. You will lead specialised nursing practices within the Haematology and Paediatric Bone Marrow Unit, coordinating care for patients undergoing transplant and gene therapy treatments. The position involves managing a defined caseload of recipients and donors, ensuring high-quality, safe, and evidence-based care. You will also contribute to strategic planning, education, research, and service development.
Key responsibilities
- Provide expert coordination and delivery of pre and post Stem Cell Transplant (SCT) and Gene Therapy care for children.
- Manage a defined caseload of recipients and donors.
- Ensure high quality, safe, evidence based care delivered with compassion.
- Support strategic, operational and financial planning for the Children's Stem Cell Service.
- Contribute to multi-professional education, research, audit and service development.
- Remain clinically credible within the role by continuously demonstrating the ability to apply specialised theoretical and practical knowledge by doing direct patient care as required.
Essential criteria
- Registered Nurse (RN Child / RSCN).
- Post-registration qualification relevant to paediatrics and transplantation
- Educated to degree level in a relevant subject or evidence of equivalent experience
- Evidence of ongoing Continuing Professional Development (CPD).
- Demonstrated leadership capability with experience of leading or coordinating a team
- Proven commitment to improving patient care and achieving performance standards.
- Advanced clinical knowledge and expertise relevant to children's BMT.
- Strong organisational and people-management skills. Demonstrated ability to manage change effectively
- Minimum of two years' experience within the relevant specialty
- Strong understanding of current issues, challenges, and best practice within paediatric BMT.
- Experience of quality improvement, audit, and standard-setting
- Experience handling complaints and contributing to quality assurance processes
Desirable criteria
- Recognised leadership or management qualification, or equivalent experience
- Experience contributing to service development initiatives.
- Experience working across multidisciplinary teams in complex clinical environments.

Job summary
We are looking for a Band 7 Children's Nurse who is ready to undertake the role of Blood, Bone Marrow Transplant and Gene Therapy Coordinator to complement our existing nursing team.
As a Blood and Bone Marrow Transplant and Gene Therapy Coordinator you will be equipped with knowledge and experience in Blood and Bone Marrow Transplant as well as emerging therapies, including gene therapy, to help lead specialised nursing practices.
You will work within our dynamic and friendly Haematology and Paediatric Bone Marrow Unit. The role will include coordinating care and working up patients for transplant and gene therapy treatments, supporting pathways from assessment through to delivery and follow-up.
The successful applicant will join a multidisciplinary team of skilled and highly motivated staff who provide high-quality care to children with a variety of haematology conditions that require transplant and advanced cellular and gene therapies.
