Role summary

This role is for an innovative and motivated Team Manager to lead and manage the Nottinghamshire Liaison and Diversion service. The service is a community-based multi-disciplinary team that assesses, shares information, refers, and supports vulnerable people of all ages within the criminal justice system. The aim is to prevent health and social inequalities by offering support early. The role involves close partnership working with justice agencies, health, social care, and third-sector organizations.

Key responsibilities

  • Deliver informed clinical and managerial support/advice to team members.
  • Provide leadership and direct line management to a team of multi-professionals.
  • Support the various pathways within the service and wider service developments.
  • Work in consultation with the Community Forensic Service Manager in implementing new service developments.
  • Participate in the development of community services, working in partnership with service users, carers, and other Team Managers.
  • Develop and implement effective multi-professional and multi-disciplinary team working across a range of provision.

Essential criteria

  • Recognised qualification in one of the core mental health professions e.g. psychiatric nursing, clinical psychology, social work and occupational therapy.
  • Demonstrates an awareness of wide range of vulnerabilities inclusive of mental health/LD needs.
  • Leadership training and/or experience.
  • Experience of working effectively in multidisciplinary settings.
  • Experience of working in a leadership position.
  • Substantial post registration experience of working with individuals of all ages within a healthcare/social care setting.
  • Substantial post registration experience of assessing service users with a broad range of mild to moderate mental health issues.
  • Skill/experience in delivering clinical and professional supervision and understanding the importance of supervision
  • Experience of working with complex service users with multiple vulnerabilities.
  • Awareness of the interface of the Health, Social Care and Criminal Justice Systems.
  • Experience of working in an enabling and creative way and skill/ability to motivate others.
  • Understanding, and experience of, the importance of maintaining boundaries in the workplace.
  • Ability to manage and contain distress in self/others.

Desirable criteria

  • Have an understanding of the purpose and role of the L&D service.
  • Experience of line management.
  • Experience of working in/alongside the Criminal Justice System.

Job summary

We are looking for an innovative and motivated Team Manager to support in the development, leadership and management of the Nottinghamshire Liaison and Diversion service.

The service is a community based multi-disciplinary team delivering assessment, sharing information, referring, and supporting vulnerable people of all ages at all points of the criminal justice system up until sentencing or diversion.

The service delivery is in line with the Liaison and Diversion National Operating model, though there is a lot of scope for innovative, creative thinking and implementation.

The overall aim of the service is to prevent health and social inequalities, offering support at the earliest point of the criminal justice system.

Key to this service success is close partnership working with justice agencies, health and social care and third sector voluntary agencies.
