Role summary
This is an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic and motivated Band 3 Therapy Support Worker to join the Surgical and Oncology Team at The Royal Shrewsbury Hospital. The role involves working with patients in a ward setting under the supervision of qualified Physiotherapists and Occupational Therapists. You will manage a delegated clinical caseload, support assessments, and assist with discharge planning. The position requires 34.5 hours per week, including a weekend rota commitment.
Key responsibilities
- Work with patients in a ward setting under supervision from qualified Physiotherapists and/or Occupational Therapists.
- Manage your own delegated clinical caseload.
- Support qualified professionals in completion of mobility and transfers assessments.
- Carry out delegated tasks.
- Support with all aspects of discharge planning.
Essential criteria
- Evidence of basic education in literacy and numeracy
- Evidence of Knowledge and skills sufficient to demonstrate the ability and willingness to study and work at a level equivalent to NVQ level 3
- Professional qualification
- NVQ level 3 in Health (Allied Health Profession support - Physiotherapy and Occupational Therapy) or be prepared to commencement one
- Work experience
- Previous work experience as a Therapy Support worker within NHS Therapy environment or equivalent e.g. Community Rehab/Therapy teams
Desirable criteria
- Acute NHS inpatient therapy support worker experience at B2 or above.
- Knowledge of working within therapy department and job role within the acute setting
- Demonstrates understanding of Therapy support worker role
- General educational qualificat

Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen within our Surgical and Oncology Team at The Royal Shrewsbury Hospital.
We are looking for an enthusiastic and highly motivated Band 3 Therapy Support Worker to join our acute inpatient therapy team. The post holder will work in the Surgical and Oncology team
The role forms part of a team of generic support workers who currently work between the Occupational Therapy and Physiotherapy teams. The candidate must have experience of working either within or alongside physiotherapy and/or occupational therapy and experience of working within an acute, NHS therapy team is desirable.
The working hours for this post will be 34.5 hours per week - over 5 working days which will include a weekend rota commitment.
