Role summary
This part-time Band 3 Health Care Support Worker role is within a supportive Sexual Health Service, working 18.75 hours per week. The post holder will assist in delivering confidential sexual health, STI, HIV, and contraception services under the supervision of Registered Nurses and doctors. Key responsibilities include patient care, clinical support, communication, and maintaining an effective clinical environment. The service operates Monday to Friday, 8:00am to 6:00pm, and may require travel across different service sites.
Essential criteria
- Higher Professional Diploma in Health and Wellbeing (NVQ/QCF - Level 3) Or
- A recognised equivalent course in health and/or social care validated by the Regulated Qualification Framework (RQF) or a Level 3 or higher course in a health and/or social care from a Higher Education Institute Or
- A formal academic qualification in any subject from a college or university of Level 3 or above plus two years care delivery in a health or social care setting
Desirable criteria
- GCSE grade A-C or equivalent in English and Maths . Registration with the national regulatory body (when it becomes available).
- Willingness to undertake further training as appropriate
- Experience of working in a health or social care setting
- Competent in the use of Microsoft Office (e.g., Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Outlook) with experience of inputting to databases, spreadsheets and/or other IT systems and business applications used in the office environment
- Experience of working as part of a team
- Experience of working in a customer service role
- Experience with the NHS patient information database (Rio, CIS)
- Knowledge of NHS
- Understanding of the need for confidentiality and management of sensitive records
- An awareness of risk management.
- Knowledge of multi-agency services available and processes for referral
- Knowledge of the effects of the ageing process and needs of vulnerable young people and adults in relation to their health and well-being.
- Able to deliver and monitor prescribed care plans.
- Excellent oral and written communication and presentation skills
- Ability to work under pressure, prioritise effectively and manage competing demands.
- Ability to work with minimal supervision and lone work

- As this is a community-based role, with travel between patient homes, there is a requirement to hold a full, valid, UK driving licence and have access to a car to use for business purposes (unless you have a disability as defined by the Equality Act 2010).
