Role summary

This role leads the Theatre Materials Management service, ensuring the effective and efficient running of Operating Theatres at Countess of Chester Hospital. Responsibilities include supervising daily activities, resolving supply issues, and supporting product standardisation and stock optimisation. The post holder will contribute to efficiency and cost improvement through data-led reviews and compliance with Trust policies. It involves coordinating ordering, receipting, storage, and replenishment of stock using Trust systems.

Essential criteria

  • To have or working towards CILT (Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport), CIPS Level 4, or NVQ Level 3 in Supply Chain or the equivalent experience
  • Experience of operating within a Supply Chain / Procurement environment

Desirable criteria

  • Previous knowledge of medical products and suppliers
  • Excellent working knowledge of supply chain and internal logistics theory and practical application including stock control, delivery, ordering/invoicing options and Customer Care
  • Have an understanding of stock systems and ability to maintain ordering software including supplier portals and auto-dispensing units
  • The ability to supervise staff
  • Knowledge or experience of daily flow and operations of a theatre environment
  • Able to demonstrate proactive customer relationship building, with the ability to respect, influence and motivate a range of stakeholders

Job summary

This post offers an exciting opportunity to lead the Theatre Materials Management service at the Countess of Chester Hospital, supporting the effective and efficient running of all Operating Theatres and associated departments.

The role includes supervising day-to-day activity within the theatre materials management service, resolving supply issues, supporting product standardisation and stock optimisation, and contributing to efficiency and cost improvement through data-led reviews and compliance with Standing Financial Instructions, Health & Safety and Infection Prevention and Control requirements and any other relevant Trust policies and procedures.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will coordinate ordering, receipting, storage, replenishment and accurate stock records using Trust inventory and purchasing systems, supporting theatre teams with the effective day to day running of Theatre Materials Management providing a customer-focused service and avoiding procedure delays or cancellations, this will include, but not limited to:

monitoring stock levels and stock replenishment activities

carrying out regular stock takes and maintaining accurate records of these
