Role summary
This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated Pharmacy Technician to join Powys Teaching Health Board's pharmacy team. The role involves supporting community and community hospitals, working alongside various clinicians to improve patient services. You will be at the forefront of delivering medicines management services, ensuring optimal use of medicines in various care environments. The post offers ongoing personal development and training opportunities within a supportive team.
Essential criteria
- Qualified Pharmacy Technician (NVQ3, BTEC Pharmacy Specialist, etc)
- Current registration with the GPHC
Desirable criteria
- Accredited Checking Technician qualification held, or relevant experience Medicines Management accredited
- Other
- Role will require travel between sites - Ability to travel between sites in a timely manner
- Flexible approach to meet the needs of the service
- Experience in Specialist Pharmacy Technician ward-based or Medicines Management role
- Experience of POD's scheme
- Experience of working with electronic Pharmacy systems
- Aptitude and Abilities
- Ability to train and convey knowledge to others, where information may be sensitive
- Ability to communicate complex information and use appropriate questioning techniques and documentation methods to ensure understanding
- Able to make judgements on immediate priorities for work
- Able to analyse usage patterns, activity data to plan ward stock etc
- Able to work on own initiative as well as part of team
- Knowledge of relevant Pharmacy/Medicines legislation
- Some ability to speak, read and/or write Welsh or an eagerness to learn
- Ability to plan rotas, supervise junior support staff

Job summary
Are you looking for an exciting and unique experience? An opportunity has arisen with Powys Teaching Health Board for a Pharmacy Technician to join our team. We are looking for someone who is motivated and passionate about patient care and wants to improve patient services to join us to work within our pharmacy team, supporting our community and community hospitals.
You will be at the forefront of delivering the service, working alongside clinicians, community hospital and district nurses, the mental health team, therapists, community and practice pharmacists and specialist nurses. You will be supported by experienced Medicines Management Team of pharmacists, pharmacy technicians, MM nurses, pharmacy assistants and administration staff. You will be a highly valued member of the team and we will provide ongoing personal development and training opportunities.
The post offers a permanent post at 34.5hrs per week, working as part of Powys ward-based team. Applications from registered Technicians who already hold an ACPT qualification and are Medicines Management accredited would be preferable but applications from technicians without these will be considered.
