Role summary

This is an internal-only opportunity for current Healthcare Assistants, Assistant Practitioners, or Nursing Associates at North Cumbria Integrated Care NHS Foundation Trust to train as a Registered Nurse through a Higher Apprenticeship with the Open University. The apprenticeship lasts 3 years, during which you will be seconded from your existing post and paid under Annex 21 of a Band 5 salary. Applicants must have specific GCSE qualifications or equivalents, a Care Certificate, and be willing to work 37.5 hours per week across North Cumbria for placements.

We are pleased to offer this exciting opportunity for current Healthcare Assistants/Assistant Practitioners/ Nursing Associates to develop their skills and train to be a Registered Nurse with the Open University.

Applications are invited from

  • Healthcare Assistants/Assistant Practitioners/Nursing Associates who work for NCIC with at least 12 months experience or minimum 500 hours working for NCIC within the last year.
  • Assistant Practitioners/Nursing Associates with a foundation degree gained within the last 5 years.

Main duties of the job

Applicants MUST possess GCSE Maths and English Grade C/4 or above, or equivalent functional skills level 2 and the certificates to evidence this along with the Care Certificate.You will be required to provide these prior to interview.

You must be able to work a minimum of 37.5 hours per week and be willing to work across North Cumbria
