Key responsibilities

  • Ensure all test results and investigations are tracked, shown to consultants, and appropriate action is taken.
  • Maintain clinical diaries, manage medical staff leave arrangements, and undertake various office duties.

Essential criteria

  • Good standard of education (to include GCSE grade C in Maths and English or equivalent)
  • Typing at a level of speed and accuracy equivalent to 40 wpm
  • Proven secretarial and administrative experience
  • Ability to effectively use Microsoft Office software
  • Customer care experience of providing a customer focused service
  • Sound understanding and observance of the principles of good data management, including legal responsibilities for data protection
  • Excellent organisational and typing skills
  • Ability to work on own initiative, prioritise own workload and achieve deadlines

Desirable criteria

  • AMSPAR / Medical terminology qualification
  • Typing ability to a minimum of RSA II (or equivalent)
  • Medical Secretary/NHS experience
  • Knowledge and experience of the Trust patient administrative and information systems
  • Understanding of Referral to Treatment Pathways
