Role summary
This role is for an enthusiastic and skilled physiotherapist with a passion for paediatric respiratory management and long-term ventilation. You will join the paediatric physiotherapy service, providing specialist assessments and management for children and young people. The position involves acting as an expert resource in paediatric long term ventilation support, working autonomously across inpatient, outpatient, and community settings. You will collaborate with a multidisciplinary team, including clinical nurse specialists and paediatric respiratory consultants, to develop patient-specific ventilation and airway clearance plans. The role also includes managing an outpatient physiotherapy caseload and providing advisory services to patients, families, and other healthcare professionals.
Essential criteria
- Degree in Physiotherapy
- BSc (Hons)/ or equivalent Grad Dip Physiotherapy
- Health and Care Professions Council registration (HCPC)
Desirable criteria
- Membership of the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy (CSP)
- Member of the Association of Chartered Physiotherapists in Respiratory Care (ACPRC) or APCP.
- Relevant validated clinical courses accredited as equivalent to masters level
- Post graduate experience in the field of acute Paediatrics including respiratory care/ or respiratory physiotherapy with paediatric experience
- Clinical experience within the NHS
- Presentation / teaching skills to the MDT
- Experience of working on PICU
- Experience of working with patients who have a tracheostomy
- Experience working with children with complex needs
- Experience of supervising physiotherapy staff and students
- Previous experience working in an MDT
- Experience in service evaluation and service development
- Previous participation in audits and/or research
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Highly specialized observation and treatment skills relevant to the assessment of paediatric respiratory patients
- The ability to motivate and lead others
- The ability to prioritise effectively and to assist others to do likewise
- Sound clinical decision making and reasoning.
- Evidence of competence in Information Technology skills

Job summary
We have an opportunity for an enthusiastic and skilled physiotherapist with an interest and passion for paediatric respiratory management and long-term ventilation to join the paediatric physiotherapy service.
The acute children's therapy team is a dynamic team made up of physiotherapists, occupational therapists, dietitians, speech and language therapists and play specialists. This role is embedded within the Long-Term Ventilation and Sleep Service at The Royal London tertiary level respiratory management for the children across North-east London the surrounding area.
The team sit in the children's division and provides clinical care across all acute in-patient areas from critical care, wards, day case and outpatients.
You will provide specialist assessments and management of children and young people. You will have shared responsibility for respiratory physiotherapy input for our children and young people with chronic respiratory needs and the lead physiotherapist in the LTV Service.
Main duties of the job
This physiotherapist will act as an expert resource in paediatric long term ventilation (LTV) support for children and young people, working autonomously across inpatient, outpatient and community settings.
