Role summary
This is an exciting opportunity for a compassionate and motivated Occupational Therapy Support Worker to join the team at Longreach. You will work closely with Occupational Therapists and the wider multidisciplinary team to support individuals on their mental health recovery journey. Key responsibilities
- To encourage patients and carers in an active approach to regaining and maintaining personal independence.
- To support the occupational therapists by carrying out specific, timed interventions on a 1:1 and group basis.
- To actively participate in the Occupational Therapy process from start to finish with support from Occupational Therapy colleagues and the MDT.
- To liaise closely with third sector agencies and community resources to support patients.
- To access meaningful activities, recreational activities, using practical, communication and creative skill.
Essential criteria
- GCSE English and Maths or equivalent
- NVQ 4 in Health & Social Care or equivalent qualification/experience
- Able to observe and modify a treatment activity, demonstrating an understanding of the patient's needs
- Ability to manage own caseload
Desirable criteria
- Experience of leading groups
- Experience of working with vulnerable adults
