Role summary
Join the NHS team to provide reactive and planned building works and repairs across Herefordshire and Worcestershire healthcare NHS buildings. This role involves general building repair jobs, including roofing, plastering, tiling, bricklaying, and carpentry. You will also perform planned maintenance tasks such as gutter cleaning and safety inspections. The position offers resources for career development and a range of wellbeing support.
Key responsibilities
- Provide reactive and planned general building repair work jobs, including roof leak repairs, slabbing, tarmac pot hole repairs, plastering, tiling, grouting, and bricklaying.
- Perform fence repairs, fence post concrete breaking, hole digging, cement mixing, and installing new guttering and fencing.
- Undertake temporary works security fencing, including collection, delivery, putting up and down post incident.
- Complete carpentry tasks such as skirting, worktops, and shelves.
- Conduct planned maintenance works including regular gutter cleaning, road & path safety inspections, draining works, and fire escape clearance checks.
- Update monthly ladders & steps estate wide log and perform zip-up PASMA scaffold erection (training supplied).
Essential criteria
- City & Guilds 6711-23 Level 2 Diploma in Maintenance Operations (Construction)
- City & Guilds or NVQ in Bricklaying or recognised apprenticeship.
- Recognised and registered CITB minimum three year apprenticeship in Carpentry/Joinery
- NVQ Level 2 Plastering Course, City & Guilds Certificate in Carpentry/Joinery or NVQ Level 3 in Carpentry/Joinery Benchwork, Safety in the Use of Woodworking Machines P.U.W.E.R. (1998), Construction Skills Certificate Scheme (CSCS) Registration, Health & Safety Prefabricated Towers Training Certificate, General Ladder Safety Certificate, Scaffold Safety Inspections
- General trades repair, Maintenance Operations (Construction) or equivalent with tradesman qualifications - roofing repairs, pot hole repairs and general building repair works.
- Ability to maintain consistency of PPM chores

Area covered:- Worcester & Herefordshire Healthcare NHS Trust from Evesham, Pershore, Malvern, Worcester, Kidderminster, Bromsgrove, Droitwich, Tenbury & Redditch.
Working arrangements:- working across multiple sites based from Newtown Hospital, Worcester workshop and travelling from home to site where job allocations required on a daily basis.
