Role summary
Join the Gynaecology Team as a Part-time Band 3 Health Care Assistant for a 12-month fixed-term maternity cover. This role involves working under the delegation of registered healthcare professionals, providing direct patient care, and assisting with clinical tasks. You will observe and respond to patient needs, communicate effectively with patients and families, and contribute to maintaining a safe working environment. The position requires adherence to Trust policies and protocols.
Key responsibilities
- Work as part of a team, with duties delegated by a registered healthcare professional.
- Communicate compassionately and effectively with individuals, families, carers, and healthcare practitioners.
- Observe, assess, and respond to patients' needs, escalating concerns to nursing staff as required.
- Undertake personal care duties and support activities of daily living, acting on own initiative.
- Assist registered healthcare practitioners with clinical tasks, follow care plans, and obtain samples/specimens.
- Safely deliver care duties, including manoeuvring patient equipment and undertaking delegated procedures within competence.

- Care Certificate (equivalent to level 1)
- Literacy and numeracy functional skills level 2 or equivalent
- Knowledge of personal care and related procedures
- Demonstrable experience of working in a patient care/health related role
- Knowledge of relevant legislation related to healthcare
- Experience of working in a team
- Ability to communicate effectively in both verbal and written formats

Main duties of the job
