Role summary

This role is for a Senior Aseptic Services Technician within The Christie NHS Trust's Aseptic Services Unit, a world leader in clinical trial material production. The successful candidate will join a dynamic team producing injectable medicines for cancer patients, supervising aseptic production in cleanrooms. Key responsibilities include staff supervision, managing production, delivering training, and supporting quality assurance. This is a progression post for Pharmacy or Science Manufacturing Technicians.

Essential criteria

  • Registered with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC) for Pharmacy Technicians or Science Council for Science Manufacturing Technicians
  • NVQ3 / BTEC in Pharmacy Services or Aseptic Pharmaceutical Science Manufacturing Technician level 3

Desirable criteria

  • BTEC accredited accuracy checking qualification or equivalent aseptic services qualification (or be willing to successfully complete)
  • KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
  • Experience as an Aseptically trained technician
  • Sound knowledge and understanding of GMP and QA and its application to Aseptic processing
  • Good working knowledge of safe dispensing and aseptic practices
  • Evidence of supervising staff and workload on a day-to-day basis
  • Demonstrable time management and organisational skills in a busy setting
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure
  • Able to communicate effectively and in a professional manner with staff and managers in person and at meetings
  • Experience in hospital pharmacy
  • Leeds University Aseptic Preparation of Medicines (APDM) attendance
  • Experience in training individuals and groups
  • Evidence of active involvement in service development
  • Audit experience

Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our Aseptic Services team as a Pharmacy or Science Manufacturing Technician. The Christie NHS Trust's Aseptic Services Unit is a world leader in phase one clinical trial material production, supporting hundreds of Clinical Trials, Early Access Medicines, Free of Charge products and Compassionate Use schemes.

We seek a motivated individual with strong attention to detail, organisation and communication skills. You will join a dynamic team producing injectable medicines for cancer patients, taking part in and supervising aseptic production in cleanrooms with five negative-pressure isolators. You will also support Highly Specialist Technicians with daily operations, staff management, stock control and Quality Assurance.

For this role you will be required to have either:

NVQ3 / BTEC in Pharmacy Services and registration with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC) as a Pharmacy Technician

Or

Aseptic Pharmaceutical Science Manufacturing Technician level 3 and registration with the Science Council as a Science Technician
