Role summary
This role is for a registered nurse or midwife interested in working with children and young people aged 0-19 within the Healthy Child Service. You will deliver early intervention and health promotion, working with families to improve health outcomes. The position offers development opportunities, including potential for Health Visitor/School Nursing training. You will work in a supportive, skill-mixed team across North Norfolk and East Norfolk.
Key responsibilities
- Work as part of a multidisciplinary 0-19 team to identify health needs of children, young people, and families.
- Support families through various methods including home visits, clinics, and virtual contacts.
- Work with vulnerable children on Universal to specialist pathways, including safeguarding.
- Deliver evidence-based practice in line with the NMC code and maintain professional development.
- Take responsibility for own clinical practice, including supervision, and adhere to the NMC code.
Essential criteria
- Current NMC Registration
- Evidence of degree level study in the last 2 years (or willingness to work towards)
- Experience of working in a multidisciplinary setting
- Experience of Safeguarding adults and/or children
- The clinical skills to identify, respond to and evaluate health needs
- Current knowledge of local and national policies informing the delivery of the Healthy Child Programme
- Competent keyboard skills and ability to communicate through IT using packages such as Word, Outlook, Microsoft Teams, Excel and PowerPoint
- Commitment to the development of excellent services, which focus on improved outcomes for children
- Demonstrate an understanding of and ability to act upon the principles and practice of health promotion
- Able to plan and organise their work using time management and prioritisation skills and work independently
- Ability to communicate effectively with children, parents and partner agencies
- Ability to work flexibly as part of a team
Desirable criteria
- Mentor/998 or equivalent teaching qualification
- Experience of Mentoring
- Experience of working in a community setting
- Experience of working with children and their famillies
- Experience with delivering healthcare interventions via digital platforms
- Ability to use SystmOne
