Role summary

This role is for a highly motivated Theatre Support Worker to join the team at St Albans City Hospital, contributing to excellent patient care during their perioperative journey. You will assist in all areas of theatre care, working as a valuable team member. The position involves working 37.5 hours per week, covering 11-hour shifts spread over Monday to Friday. Successful candidates will start on Band 2 and progress to Band 3 upon completion of a Healthcare Certificate, unless they already possess the qualification.

Essential criteria

  • Care Certificate or City and Guilds 3 or NVQ 3 or BTEC National Diploma or equivalent experience.
  • Level 2 Functional skills in English and Maths; GCSE A* - C or 4 - 9.
  • Completion of Level 3 Diploma in Healthcare Support (that maps to the Apprenticeship Standard for Senior Health Care Support Worker).
  • Willingness to successfully complete the level 3 apprenticeship and QCF as identified by department (or equivalent qualification) within 12 months of employment.
  • Understands the role of a Theatre Support Worker.
  • Understands and committed to a caring approach to patients & relatives.
  • Previous experience as a care support worker in a health care setting
  • Experience of time management and prioritising work.
