This contract type is not eligible for Skilled Worker sponsorship.
NHS Trusts cannot issue a Certificate of Sponsorship for part-time, bank, locum, zero-hours, job-share or short fixed-term (under 12 months) contracts under current Home Office rules. This applies even when the wider Trust holds a Skilled Worker licence.
Role summary
This role involves providing mental health support to children and young people with neurodevelopmental conditions like ADHD and autism within the community. You will work as part of a multidisciplinary team, assisting with assessments, offering interventions, and supporting families. The position focuses on preventing escalation of mental health issues and providing intensive support to reduce the need for hospital admissions. It requires working closely with clinicians and other services to ensure timely and appropriate care.
Essential criteria
- Ability to communicate effectively with young people and their families/carers, who are experiencing mental health problems in the community setting.
- A background of working in a care setting and/or education / social care setting. Previous experience of working with young people in a professional/voluntary capacity

- Experience of working with people with neuro developmental disorders such as Autism Spectrum Condition and ADHD
- Vocational Qualification Level III or equivalent level of relevant study
- or able to demonstrate the skills, knowledge and ability to work to this level.
- Maths & English GCSE Grades 4 and above or equivalent.
- Knowledge and/or awareness of mental health problems.
- Knowledge of safe guarding children.
- Some experience / knowledge of Autism Spectrum Disorder and ADHD
- Knowledge of mental health problems/mental illness in young people and evidenced based treatments.

Come and join a passionate and friendly team providing mental health services to children with or presenting with possible neuro diversity across the city of Plymouth. We have a number of opportunities within the Neurodiversity Intensive Support and Intervention Team (NISIT) which supports the wider CAMHS Neurodiversity pathway offering specialist assessment, intervention and support to children and young people that may have, a learning disability, ADHD, autism, Tics or Tourette's and are struggling with mental health difficulties. NISIT provide a high intensive support to young people struggling with mental health whilst waiting or currently within the Neuro pathway, to reduce increasing development of the mental health presentation and or risks.
NISIT are part of a wider dedicated team that aims to provide a positive and supportive working environment, with an open learning culture, which fosters high morale and commitment.
This role may not be eligible for sponsorship under the Skilled Worker route; please refer to the Direct Gov website for more information with regards to eligibility.
