Role summary
This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated Clinical Administrator to join the Respiratory Department at the Royal Victoria Infirmary. The role involves providing high-quality administrative support to consultants, medical staff, and the wider team, including assisting with Multidisciplinary Team (MDT) processes. Key responsibilities
- Provide an efficient administrative service to clinicians and their teams.
- Perform daily tasks including audio typing, proofreading, finalising correspondence, and processing incoming/outgoing mail and referrals.
- Handle patient queries over the telephone efficiently and field queries as required.
- Manage post for the clinical team, make ad hoc appointments, and request clinic builds.
- Chase results and check appointments as requested, working collaboratively for smooth departmental operation.
- Provide cover for the Senior Medical Secretary/Team Leader, Respiratory MDT Co-ordinator, and other Clinical Administrator/Support Secretary posts Trust wide as needed.
Essential criteria
- Level 3 qualification in administration or equivalent/relevant experience in administrative role(s)
- English qualification at Level 2 (GCSE Grades 9-4 or A*-C, or Functional or Key Skills at Level 2)
- Maths qualification at Level 1 (GCSE Grades 3-2 or D-F, or Functional or Key Skills at Level 1
- Experience of secretarial/administrative procedures
- IT Skills to include MS Office software packages e.g. Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint
- Advanced keyboard skills including a high standard of word processing skills
- Excellent communication skills
- Ability to work without direct supervision
- Ability to manage time effectively and work on own initiative
- Ability to accurately input, collate and present information
Desirable criteria
- NHS Administration/Secretarial experience
- Working Knowledge of NHS Systems e.g. eRecord, System One
- Knowledge of medical terminology

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a motivated, organised and enthusiastic individual to join the Respiratory Department within the Medicine and Emergency Care Clinical Board as a Clinical Administrator, based at the Royal Victoria Infirmary.
The postholder will work closely with consultants, medical staff and the wider administrative team to provide a high-quality and efficient administrative service.
