Role summary
This role involves providing mental health services to children and young people with neurodiversity in Plymouth. The practitioner will conduct holistic assessments, provide interventions, and manage a caseload of complex needs within a multi-disciplinary CAMHS team. They will also offer clinical leadership to non-registered staff and ensure high standards of care and record-keeping.
Essential criteria
- 1. Knowledge of relevant legislation and documents pertaining
- to children, e.g. Children Act 2004, Child Protection, National Service Framework, Every Child Matters etc. Learning Disability specific legislation and documents, Aiming High for Disabled Children, Valuing People, Mansell report, Mental Capacity Act.
- 2. Knowledge of a range of mental health problems and disorders affecting children and young people who are in care.
- 3. Knowledge of theories of child development and their application to practice.
- 4.Well established case management skills and good organisational skills with ability to prioritise.
- 5.Competent assessment and intervention skills
- 1. Degree in Health or Social Care.
- 2. Current Professional registration.
- 3. Evidence of continued professional development relevant to this field of care.
Desirable criteria
- 1. Post graduate training and evidence of continued professional development.
- 2. Completed supervision / mentoring training for students.
- 1.Experience (both work and life related) of neurodiversity.
- 2. Experience of working in a multi-agency and/or multi-disciplinary context.
- 3. Experience of post-registration working with people who have experienced mental health difficulties.
- 4.Experience in assessment, inc risk assessment, care planning and managing risk.
- 5. Experience of working within multi-agency safeguarding systems e.g. child protection conferences, child in need meetings.
- 6. Experience of providing supervision / assessing and mentoring.
- 7.Experience of assessing capacity.
- 1. Experience of post-registration working with
- children and young people who have experienced
- mental health difficulties.
- 2. Experience of using total Communication
- Techniques in aiding a persons ability to
- communicate effectively.

The team supports the wider CAMHS service offering specialist assessment, intervention and support to children and young people that may have, a learning disability, ADHD, autism, Tics or Tourette's and are struggling with mental health difficulties. The team are dedicated to providing a positive and supportive working environment, with an open learning culture, which fosters high morale and commitment.
Main duties of the job
The post holder is responsible for
supporting the emotional, psychological and social wellbeing of children and
young people who have or are suspected of having a Neuro developmental Disorder
( ADHD, Learning disability, Autism, Tics or Tourettes).The post
holder will provide a holistic assessment for children and young people, which
will involve close liaison with the multi-agency network; including schools and
social care. The post holder will join a Multi-disciplinary Team and will work
closely with other teams within the CAMHS
