Essential criteria

  • English & Maths (grade 4-9)
  • European Computer Driving License (ECDL) or equivalent qualification or experience

  • Level 3 or equivalent qualification or experience in Administration or Customer Service
  • Previous experience of using Microsoft Office Applications
  • Knowledge or secretarial or administrative procedures and systems
  • Previous experience of working in an office environment
  • Previous experience of audio-typing
  • The ability to communicate sensitive information to colleagues, patients and relatives
  • The ability to pay close attention to detail in written and electronic communication and information storage
  • The ability to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team to ensure high quality secretarial and administrative support
  • Utilise personal problem solving skills to assist patients, carers and staff
  • Able to organise, prioritise and adjust own workload in relation to the priorities of the department
  • Demonstrates personal duty of care in relation to the safe use of equipment and other resources

Medical Secretaries are vital in supporting clinicians to deliver high-quality care and excellent patient experience. With strong keyboard skills, excellent attention to detail, you will undertake a range of administrative duties, including transcribing clinical correspondence, adding patients to waiting lists and maintaining accurate records.

As an effective communicator you will be confident in providing clear and timely information to both internal and external stakeholders, while maintaining patient confidentiality and professionalism.

Our team supports the Trust from Royal Papworth Hospital in Cambridge and Kingfisher House in Huntingdon. This post will primarily be based at Kingfisher House, with expectation that you attend Royal Papworth Hospital, as required. Once you are established in the role, there will be opportunity to work remotely 1 day a week.
