Role summary
This role is for a Paediatric Health Care Assistant within the Children's Outpatients nursing team at Chase Farm & Edgware Community Hospitals. The post holder will work under the direction of the COPD manager, assessing care needs, implementing and evaluating planned care for paediatric patients. They will work with minimal supervision as part of the nursing team, providing care to prevent admission or reduce hospitalisation, and act as clinical support for students. The role involves contributing to evidence-based care for children and their families, collaborating with other agencies, and potentially assisting in other areas of the paediatric unit.
Essential criteria
- GCSE Maths and English or equivalent
- Care Certificate
- Apprenticeship Level 3 in Care or equivalent vocational experience
- Able to demonstrate clear and robust verbal and written English communication skills
- Experience of working as a team
- Previous care work experience

- Previous experience in a hospital setting
- Skills and aptitudes
- Recognition of a person's right for privacy and dignity
- Awareness of Safeguarding issues
- Knowledge of risk management
- To maintain a safe clinical environment conducive to patient care

Job summary
The Paediatric Children's Outpatients nursing team forms part of the Integrated Children's services at Chase Farm & Edgware Community Hospitals and is part of the Royal Free Hampstead NHS Trust.
The post holder will work under the direction of the COPD manager with responsibility for the assessment of care needs for all patients, ensuring appropriately planned care is both implemented and evaluated.
He/ she is expected to work with minimal supervision and will be designated to work as part of the nursing team at Chase Farm & Edgware Community Hospitals.
He/she will provide care at COPD without supervision to facilitate the prevention of admission or reduction in hospitalisation. He/ she will act as an effective clinical support for students.
The post holder will work as part of the COPD Nursing Team with support from the band 5, band 6 and band 7 [contact details removed] contribute to the assessment, planning, implementation of evidence-based care to children and their families and carers, and work in a collaborative manner with other agencies to ensure a seamless service for the children.
Circumstances may arise for the post holder to assist in providing clinical cover in all areas of the paediatric unit.
