Role summary
This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced and motivated Research Team Leader/Charge Nurse to join the Lerryn Research Team at Royal Cornwall Hospitals Trust. The role involves leading and managing a team to deliver clinical trials, focusing on commercial research, and collaborating with partners across the region. The successful candidate will be NMC registered with a strong nursing background, leadership skills, and a passion for driving clinical research forward. You will ensure strategic development and operational management of research activities.
Key responsibilities
- Lead and manage a team to ensure the successful delivery of clinical trials with a commercial focus.
- Drive growth and development of the team's trial portfolio, identifying and implementing opportunities for expansion.
- Collaborate closely with team leads and other departments to achieve project objectives.
- Adapt to shifting priorities with resilience and a proactive mindset.
- Demonstrate flexibility by working outside standard hours and across multiple sites as protocol requires.
Essential criteria
- Registered Nurse with the NMC
- Masters level or demonstratable experience
- ICH GCP certificate or willingness to undertake
- Evidence of recent continued professional development
- Considerable and substantial post registration experience Including in a clinical research environment
- Comprehensive understanding of the research process
- Extensive experience of clinical research within various NHS settings and specialties
- Experience of commercial and academic research
- Extensive knowledge of the requirements of the Research
- People management skills and experience

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Lerryn Research Team as a Research Team Leader/Charge Nurse. We are seeking an experienced and motivated individual with managerial and leadership skills who will play a key role in the implementation and delivery of the clinical trials at RCHT.
This role involved working with the Lead Research Nurse to ensure strategic development and operational management of commercial and non-commercial research activities, working collaboratively with our partners across the region.
The successful candidate will be NMC registered and will have a strong and proven nursing background with leadership and experience in managing and developing teams. You will have exceptional organisational, communication, and problem-solving abilities, as well as being adaptable, proactive, and able to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
Research skills are advantageous, but a passion for research and developing knowledge in this area are essential.
