Role summary
This is a full-time, static Band 6 Senior Physiotherapist role within the Cardiothoracic Physiotherapy Team at Freeman Hospital. The successful candidate will provide specialist physiotherapy to patients undergoing thoracic and cardiac surgery, transplantation, and those in cardiothoracic intensive care. The role involves supporting physiotherapy pathway development and integrating into multi-professional teams, with support from Advanced and Clinical Specialist Physiotherapists. Experience in acute surgical and critical care environments is welcomed.
Essential criteria
- Advanced knowledge of a range of medical conditions and their impact on patient's functional abilities
- Sound knowledge of the physiotherapy process
Desirable criteria
- Knowledge of undertaking research and audit projects
- Knowledge of current NHS issues e.g. NSF's Improving Working Lives
- Organisation and time management skills
- Ability to work as part of a team
- Commitment to personal and service development
- Ability to present information, written and orally in a clear and logical manner
- IT Skills
- Presentation Skills
- Specialist treatment skills e.g. manual therapy
- NHS experience in a rotational post providing a broad range of experience across the core areas of physiotherapy
- Experience of working as part of a multi-disciplinary team
- Previous experience in a senior post
- Experience of working with patients with physical health problems
- Degree or equivalent Diploma in Physiotherapy
- State Registered with Health & Care Professions Council
- Member of Chartered Society Of Physiotherapists
- Involvement in relevant CSP Clinical Special Interest groups

We are delighted to advertise a full time, static Band 6 Senior Physiotherapist to work as part of the Cardiothoracic Physiotherapy Team at the Freeman Hospital. The Cardiothoracic Physiotherapy Team provide specialist and dedicated physiotherapy input to patients requiring thoracic and cardiac surgery, solid organ transplantation and patients requiring cardiothoracic intensive care, including advanced mechanical circulatory support.
