Role summary
Prentis Medical Centre is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Practice Nurse to join their GP practice in Streatham. The role involves providing high-quality nursing care to a diverse patient population and collaborating with the multidisciplinary team to deliver excellent primary care services. Key duties include immunisations, wound care, cervical cytology, chronic disease management, and maintaining patient records. The successful candidate will work within NMC guidelines and contribute to quality improvement initiatives.
Key responsibilities
- Deliver general nursing services including immunisations, vaccinations, wound care, dressings, cervical cytology, health checks and lifestyle advice.
- Manage chronic disease clinics (e.g. asthma, diabetes, COPD, hypertension, SMI and Learning disability reviews).
- Perform phlebotomy, blood pressure monitoring, urinalysis, B12 and Depo injections, and contraception review.
- Support infection prevention and control procedures.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records using clinical systems (EMIS).
- Participate in clinical audits and quality improvement initiatives.
Essential criteria
- Registered Nurse (RGN) with current NMC registration
- Experience working in a GP practice or primary care setting
- Competent in cervical smears ,wound dressing and chronic disease management.
- Phlebotomy trained
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- IT literate (EMIS desirable)
Desirable criteria
- Experience with QOF and clinical audits
- Travel health training
